Welcome - Introduction to Volunteer Handbook

Welcome to the Charities Review Council! We are very glad you are here and look forward to the valuable work you will contribute to our nonprofit organization. Our mission is two-fold: to assist other nonprofits to become accountable and transparent to their constituents, and to give donors a way to be informed so they can make the most of their charitable contributions. Wherever your skills fit in, you will be providing a valued service with your volunteer work or internship.

We anticipate that you will have excellent opportunities here at the Council to gain on-the-job experience in your field, be it nonprofit services where you will work with the Wizard, our proprietary software which nonprofits use to self-assess their programs and policies; working with our communications coordinator to get our message out in the many varied forms of media; assisting with vitally important aspects of nonprofit governance; or working on development to raise awareness and funds for carrying out our mission. We will provide you with valuable training so you can accomplish your work and be more fully prepared for future employment positions.

Please review the rest of our volunteer handbook to familiarize yourself with our policies and procedures as well as your rights and responsibilities. Feel free to ask questions of your supervisor about any of the matters covered in our online volunteer handbook. We also would appreciate your suggestions on how to improve this handbook. We value your input.

Thank you very much for contributing your skills to our efforts in the nonprofit community!

Sincerely,

Amy Sinykin
Associate Director
