Marketing and Communications Intern
GOAL OF POSITION: Under the supervision of the Communications Specialist, the intern will provide assistance in a variety of communication activities to ensure implementation of marketing and communications plan while gaining a better understanding of the nonprofit sector.
POSSIBLE DUTIES:

Develop story ideas, writing, and promotion of newsworthy content to increase the Council’s visibility (blogs, fact sheets, website, e-newsletters, and other marketing materials as directed).

Coordinate the organization, planning, and promotion of Council events.

Managing the blog schedule, editing blog posts, and ensuring the production of a high-quality blog platform.

Research upcoming workshops, webinars, and other resources that would be interesting to our audiences for the e-newsletters).

Assist with the monthly e-newsletter.

Track detailed analytic metrics for Twitter, blog, Facebook, website, and e-newsletter

Assist with website maintenance.

Assist with the Charities Review Council’s nonprofit review process, including preliminary verification of information and documentation provided by charities.

Answer donor inquiries via phone and e-mail regarding nonprofit organizations and their solicitation requests.

Other administrative office tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Completed coursework in English, Mass Communications and Journalism, Public Relations and Marketing, and/or Expository Writing.

Strong proficiency in both writing and editing. Experience or coursework in writing for the Web a plus.

Strong interest and knowledge of social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn).

Ability to work independently and to seek consultation when needed. This intern will function as part of a nonprofit services communication team.

TIME COMMITMENT: 3-6 month commitment. Flexible schedule within office hours of 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Mon-Fri. 10-12 hours per week.
