MISSION Friends of the Mississippi River (FMR) advocates a new vision for the Mississippi, especially the river and its watershed in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Through active leadership and education, FMR seeks to preserve and restore the river's fish and wildlife, its vital floodplains and scenic bluffs, its natural and cultural treasures, its beauty and its romance.

CHARITY RESPONSE TO REVIEW: As an advocacy organization, to report the number of people served is complicated. How do you quantify the number of people served by our efforts to improve water quality in the Mississippi River Watershed or to protect habitat in this internationally significant flyway? The number of
people served that we reported in the disclosure section is a very
limited, direct-contact number that is comprised of individuals who are members, attended our events, volunteered, etc. We strongly believe that this number does not adequately represent the extent of our effectiveness or the true number of individuals served. We welcome questions and discussion on this matter and suggest that interested donors contact FMR development director Heather Haynes for more information.
