Hearing and Service Dogs of Minnesota is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or disabled by creating mutually beneficial partnerships with specially trained dogs.

    CHARITY RESPONSE TO REVIEW:
    Hearing and Service Dogs of Minnesota trains Assistance Dogs to provide independence for people with disabilities. Our service area includes Minnesota, and we recently expanded services to North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri and parts of Illinois. Our organization embraces accountability. We are proud to have met all of the standards set forth by the Charities Review Council.     Member,Assistance Dogs International Minnesota Council of Nonprofits Association of Fundraising Professionals In February 2006, three Service Dogs were inducted into the Minnesota Animal Hall of Fame by the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association. HSDM has received the Nonprofit Mission Award for Innovation from the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits and the Distinguished Service Award from the Minnesota State Council on Disability. The City of Minneapolis selected the program’s founder and executive director, Alan M. Peters, to receive the Minneapolis Award for his innovation in starting Hearing and Service Dogs of Minnesota. Additionally, the community has recognized the special relationships that form between Hearing and Service Dogs of Minnesota clients and the Assistance Dogs placed with them. Additionally, the City of Minneapolis in 2003 selected Oreo, a Hearing and Service Dogs of Minnesota trained and placed Hearing Dog, as Dog of the Year.
