MISSION The Mixed Blood Theatre Company is a professional, multi-racial theatre promoting cultural pluralism and individual equality through artistic excellence. We believe theatre can be a vehicle for artistry, entertainment, education, and social change addressing the artificial barriers that keep people from succeeding in American society. Mixed Blood’s purpose is to:
• Produce plays using culture-conscious casting
• Provide the finest forum in the nation for theatre artists of color to practice their craft
• Take artistic risks in the selection and production of plays
• Reach a non-traditional theatre audience
• Produce educational programs on racial and cultural themes

CHARITY RESPONSE TO REVIEW: Founded in 1976, Mixed Blood Theatre began as a branch of the Center for Community Action, a social service agency focusing on the employment of low-income teens. To provide actors of color with more professional opportunities, the Theatre separated from the community action agency in 1980. Since that time, Mixed Blood has not only maintained its artistic and political mission, but has also grown in its efforts, providing an annual average of 500 performances and reaching an average of 120,000 people through its three primary programs: Mainstage Productions, Educational Touring and Family Series, and EnterTraining.
With the support of our diverse audiences, donors, and Board of Directors, Mixed Blood has continued to strive toward artistic success, organizational maturity, and a legacy of meaningful service to the field of theatre and to pluralistic American society. Mixed Blood thanks the Charities Review Council for the opportunity to show our community of supporters our accountability. | | | NON-CASH DONATIONS
