MISSION
Domestic Abuse Project promotes safe and healthy family relationships by stopping domestic violence as it occurs and working to prevent it in the future. To achieve this mission, we provide counseling, education and advocacy to families affected by domestic abuse to give them the tools to transform their lives. On a larger scale, we work to strengthen our community’s response to domestic violence by educating and influencing public policy makers and community members.

    CHARITY RESPONSE TO REVIEW:
DAP has been offering services to residents of Minneapolis and Hennepin County since 1979 and was one of the first domestic violence agencies in the nation. We have always offered a unique mix of services to every member of the family. We use counseling, crisis intervention and community outreach to provide families with the tools they need to end the abuse, build healthy relationships and transform their lives. In the last 28 years DAP has served more than 190,000 people with therapy, advocacy and education services aimed at ending domestic violence. The DAP infrastructure and programs directly support our clients and their families at every stage as they end the violence in their lives. DAP has no prescribed path for healing, instead we provide families with the skills and resources they need to rebuild their lives without violence. Learn more at www.domesticabuseproject.org.
