CHARITY RESPONSE TO REVIEW: Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless is an organization helping Minnesotans with life’s most basic needs of food and shelter. Since 1986 this nonprofit organization has provided grant funding to local food shelves, food banks, on-site feeding programs, permanent supportive housing, emergency shelters and transitional housing programs. The work is carried out with a small part-time staff and many dedicated volunteers.
Open Your Heart also helps children and youth without permanent homes by providing school supplies, activity fees, gym shoes, graduation costs, and other essentials through its Education Fund. This helps the students in K-12 stay enrolled and engaged in school.
Open Your Heart has a simple message of hope for people most in need and a unique focus—the only federation in Minnesota working exclusively on issues of hunger and homelessness.
Staff and board members of Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless are committed to continuing the tradition of maintaining high standards of accountability and encourage donors to seek information about the work of our organization. |
