CHARITY RESPONSE TO REVIEW: From 2005 to 2008, BBBS embarked upon a multi-year, strategic initiative to enhance services and lay the foundation for further expansion of programs and services. This investment, made through revenue earned in previous years, included the following:
• Program Enhancements and Investments (Agency Information Management, Staffing Alignments, Program Evaluations)
• Fund Development. Investments made, as part of efforts to build a broader base of support, included: hiring a team of staff to actively engage volunteers, donors and others in building the individual giving program, increasing government support, building partnerships with corporations and community organizations. Investments in technology – including contribution management and financial management software – were made to better integrate the systems necessary to support philanthropic gift stewardship and management.
• Financial Management. A consultant worked with the agency’s financial management team to refine the systems necessary to continue to successfully manage a multimillion dollar budget while meeting the increasingly stringent regulatory requirements of the nonprofit sector. |
