MISSION
"For the love of the child" is the mission of the Womens General Auxiliary to Shriners Hospital-Twin Cities. Through fundraising efforts, the Auxiliary provides medical and therapy equipment, wheelchairs, school supplies, toys and loving attention to children overcoming physical handicaps or disabling conditions. Since 1923 we have put the comfort of the child at the heart of our vision.

 Reserve Limits (3B)At the end of the 2006 fiscal year the unrestricted net assets of the Women's General Auxiliary were more than twice their budgeted annual expenses.

CHARITY RESPONSE TO REVIEW:
The Womens General Auxiliary has always been financially accountable to our members. We have now met all the standards of the Charitable Review Council with the exception of the Reserve Limits.
Due to the rising costs for wheelchairs and other medical mobility equipment that we furnish free of charge to patients, we need to keep our reserves for anticipated higher medical costs. In 2007 our costs were $360,000 with the projected increase for 2008 to $400,000 - $500,000. These projections are based on last year's numbers and if the patient numbers should increase above our projections, our reserves would be strained.
We have never used a professional fundraising organization but have been self supporting through our individual members. As costs are rising so quickly in the medical field, and our declining membership, it serves as a cause of concern for future funding.
