Building Trust – Assist in maintaining the Council’s Accountability Standards—adherence to the Standards is one way charities demonstrate their trustworthiness to the giving public. Accountability Standards were developed by a diverse group of donors, nonprofit leaders, grantmakers, academics and community representatives. Standards address four distinct areas of accountability— Public Disclosure, Governance, Financial Activity and Fundraising.
Building Strength -Provide tools and resources to organizations to meet and maintain the Council’s Accountability Standards. The Accountability Wizard  aA  is an online, educational assessment tool that helps nonprofits align with sound policies, practices and procedures as reflected by the Accountability Standards. 
Building Minnesota- The Council’s Standards have evolved over its 60 years, with broad participation from Minnesota’s nonprofit and philanthropic communities. In the Council’s opinion, the Standards represent reasonable measures of accountability to enhance, strengthen, and support the ongoing generosity of people like you.

The Charities Review Council upholds the Donor Bill of Rights, developed by the Association of Fundraising Professionals and others to help donors feel confident in the organizations they support.

Here are some examples of what your contribution will support:

$35 – Answer 15 inquiries from donors requesting information about specific charities.

$65 – Sponsor one presentation to a local community group on being engaged citizens and responsible givers.

$105 – Encourage 85 seniors to give with their heads and hearts by producing and delivering Smart Giver newsletters to their assisted living residence.

$335 – Update information for donors about charities and current giving trends each week.

$525 – Provide 15 hours of technical assistance and educational tools to charities.
