St. Anthony Park Area Seniors

The mission of St. Anthony Park Area Seniors is to maintain levels of independence and interdependence for seniors and their caregivers in the St. Anthony Park area, through collaborative efforts of professional staff, volunteer staff and contracted nursing services working together to integrate health services, social services, community activities, education and advocacy. Accomplishments
Increased visibility in the neighborhood resulted in service to a significant higher number of seniors and caregivers in more ways. During the past year we served 370 seniors/caregivers (140 more than last year). Our two employees and 136 neighborhood volunteers provided 243 one-hour exercise classes, gave 1009 rides to health appointments (770 last year, &and 512 & 355 the years prior), made 845 home visits, delivered approx. 3000 home-delivered meals, & took seniors on a total of 17 social outings (15.5 av. att). Volunteers gave 3267 hours of direct service to seniors. Provided nine speakers on aging and caregiver-related topics. In partnership with Minn. Visiting Nurse Agency we provided nursing to 19 seniors (267 hours of nursing/therapy visits and 725 hours of home health/homemaker visitis., 25 blood pressure and one flu shot clinic. Updated program website. Completed strategic planning process and a board self-assessment review. Made necessary plans to update the logo and program name by July 1, 2011, and hold a special 30th anniversary celebration in the fall of 2011.
Current Goals
Provide service to at least 300 seniors and/ot caregivers of seniors, including direct service by volunteers to 100 seniors and/or caregivers. Provide 1000 rides to seniors to health appointments/events. Provide 250 exercise classes. Continue providing speakers on senior-related topics. Provide at least 18 group social outings. Provide nursing services to at least 30 seniors. Officially change the program logo and name and communicate both to the community. Complete events in 2011 to commemorate program's 30th anniversary including two luncheons honoring program founders/supporters/volunters and the seniors/caregivers we serve.
