Accomplishments
The Reading Center provided testing to 70 students and screenings to over 100 students in 2010. Our tutors provided over 8,700 sessions of Educational Therapy for 147 students. 86 students enrolled in our month-long summer program, Best of Basics. TRC trained 30 educators and parents in the Orton-Gillingham approach, and trained 21 teachers in our specialized classroom teacher training for Rochester district elementary schools. Over the course of four years, the 81 trained classroom teachers reach approximately 2,400 students each year, and many times more over their teaching career.
The Reading Center offered free educational outreach presentations to the public, in 2010 reaching double the number of parents as we reached in 2009. We provided 16 free presentations to 446 adults. We provided over $55,000 in scholarships to 69 individuals in need of testing, tutoring or classes.
