Served 12,700 people in our food shelf; distributed 682,312 pounds of food through the food shelf, bakery shelf and Christmas programs. Distributed 1,215 boxes of food as the local distribution center for the federal governements supplemental nutrition programs (Mothers and Children, and Nutritional Assistance Program for Seniors). Provided clothing at no charge to 1,628 people. Served 994 families with our Christmas programs. Provided 1,554 rides to persons who needed assistance getting to medical or dental appointments. Made 5,460 daily reminder calls to persons confined to their homes. Served over 30,000 meals to school-age children during summer school programs in Districts 6 and 197.
Current Goals
Complete the capital campaign. Reinstitute our summer bag meal program for children. Expand our summer-school meal program to include at least one additional school. Complete the changeover to the client choice model. Keep up with the continuing increase in demand for food assistance. Investigate additional food delivery models that might be appropriate for Neighbors. Increase the business in the Clothes Closet by at east 10%.
