The agency has continued to grow. 11,437 unduplicated participants utilized services in 2009, up from 10,177 in 2008. The food shelf served 38,821 individuals in 8,106 households. Asian Meals on Wheels delivered 14,008 meals to 91 elders. 244 refugees were served by the Refugee Resettlement program. In our English Language Learning classes, 2 students passed all 5 GED tests and achieved/earned their GED and 5 students achieved US citizenship. Case Management program served 126 families. 273 children from the West Side and West 7th neighborhoods were enrolled in Early Childhood Education programs. 93% of the participants involved in Hmong Plain Talk program reported to be more likely to delay sexual activity and/or use condoms to prevent pregnancy and/or HIV/AIDS/STIs. 114 teen moms and expectant teen moms participated in the Baby Talks program. 868 youth visited the youth center in 2009, an increase of 10.5%. The Holiday Dinner was a great success as we served over 750 participants. We also were able to give away over 1,000 toys to families who could not afford them. In the College Access program, 96% of participants reported gaining knowledge from test taking and essay writing workshops.
