The Sinfonia partnered with 19 inner-city public schools of Minneapolis and St. Paul Public schools, and approximately l0,000 children. On average, approximately 75+% of the students in the schools the Sinfonia works with are on free or reduced lunch – a marker for poverty. In several of the schools, that percentage jumps to over 90%.
The Sinfonia performed 20 public, free admission concerts, and according to survey results, nearly 40% of respondents came from households that had annual incomes of $35,000 and below, and that same percentage attended very few to no other performances by the region’s other professional orchestras.
To fulfill our stated mission “to serve the musical and educational needs of the citizens of Minnesota, with primary emphasis given to inner-city youth, families with young children, seniors and those with limited financial means.
To fulfill these goals, the Sinfonia will offer between 60-65 free admission/children welcome concerts every year, partners with 18-20 inner-city public schools and works with approximately 10,000 children every year.
