During the fiscal year ending June 30, 2013, the Land Trust completed 10 land-protection projects that permanently protect 1,913 acres and 34,599 feet of shoreline. MLT advanced the restoration of the St. Louis River estuary through continued scope of work planning on four sites and through the continued restoration of the Radio Tower Bay location. MLT worked with the City of Duluth, St. Louis County and other stakeholders to complete Phase II of a project that seeks to identify and protect Duluth's extensive network of trails and greeenspace; helping to promote the City's reputation as a world-class recreation destination. MLT monitored 100% of its protected properties and is working to correct easement violation at one site.
The Land Trust's goals for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014 are to complete 27 - 39 land protection projects using conservation easements and fee title acquisition. MLT will monitor 100% of all previously protected properties and will continue restoration of the St. Louis River estuary. MLT will begin the third phase of work with the City of Duluth to advance the protection and promotion of its recreational trails. MLT will also apply for re-accreditation by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission.
