For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2010, the Land Trust completed 15 separate land-protection projects that permanently protect 2,031 acres of natural and scenic land and 47,102 feet of shoreline on lakes, rivers and streams. While now protected from inappropriate land use, these sites will remain in existing ownership, typically private, where they will continue to operate as much-needed farmland, working forests and other uses compatible within the context of the local community.
For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2011, the Land Trust seeks to protect 20 - 25 additional sites, provide assistance to local units of government within the context of land use, and work with others to build a conservation constituency throughout the state.
