Accomplishments
Using the Logic Model as evidenced-based criteria we met our goal of providing pre- and post-adoption services to the satisfaction of the Minnesota Department of Human Services that recently continued the contract for these services. The number of children under state guardianship awaiting adoption was cut in half, and we continue to address the need for increased adoptions of older youth. AHA - Adoptees Have Answers developed adoptee peer support groups statewide, created a virtual community on www.aha-mn.org, and united a diverse adoptee community.
Current Goals
MARN will strive to reduce adoption disruptions through assessments and short term therapeutic services, thus streamlining emergency assistance to adoptive families in crisis. To meet the demand for education about adoption, MARN will provide more online training opportunities for parents and professionals and train therapists to be adoption-competent. Ongoing annual goals are to reduce the number of children awaiting families and to support those families who adopt them.
Community or Constituency Served
Our community includes children under state guardianship; adoptive, foster and kinship families; professionals who work in child welfare, and prospective adoptive families.
Geographic Area Served
Minnesota Adoption Resource Network serves all 87 counties of Minnesota, doing recruitment, informing, supporting, training and doing crisis assessments for families and children across the state.
