Community or Constituency Served
Greater Minneapolis serves families in Hennepin county; sheltering children aged newborn through six. During life’s most challenging times, Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery is often the only place our community’s most isolated and poor families can turn. Whether they are dealing with homelessness, domestic violence, a medical emergency or exhaustion, Hennepin County families can seek help and hope from the Crisis Nursery every hour of the day, every day of the week. With a 24-hour crisis helpline, help is just a phone call away. Parents in crisis can also choose to bring their children ages newborn through age 6 (the ages most at risk for abuse of neglect) to the Crisis Nursery’s residential shelter. Children are cared for at the Crisis Nursery for up to three consecutive nights, 30 nights a year, giving overwhelmed parents time to address the immediate crisis in their lives. The Crisis Nursery also provides long-term, intensive support through home visiting.
Geographic Area Served
Hennepin County for shelter services. Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery has partnerships that expand our homevisiting social service and mental health services outside Hennepin County.
