Bridges to Learning

Bridges To Learning is a child based organization with a focus on helping children in especially vulnerable circumstances. The organization was founded on the principal that all children need to be ensured the opportunity for education, mental and physical development and nurturing that builds the foundation for the children to begin to take the lead in their own future development and achievements. The organization focuses on children in impoverished environments where education is unattainable without charitable initiatives to lift these children-and everyone around them--out of poverty.

Following the initial thrust into the local Vietnamese community to raise awareness of Bridge’s mission in 2012 we sponsored a Vietnamese Gala in November of 2013 bringing over 200 Vietnamese into an evening of entertainment and information surrounding the mission of Bridges to Learning. Continuing to spread awareness of Bridge’s work we have partnered with One Vietnam to strengthen our network reach. Bridges continues the support of Anh Linh School with over 75 active sponsors supporting the education of 84 children at the school. Bridges maintains a school breakfast program for those elementary students who would otherwise not have a breakfast before classes begin. During a visit to Vietnam in 2012 Bridges met with local companies in Saigon to help bring local support to the school and succeeded in having one company sponsor the Fred Hallows Organization to come to the school and provide free eye exams for the student body. Following the resignation of our former Executive Director the organization conducted an extensive search leading to the hiring of Robert A. Pitner as our new Director.
Current Goals
At the organizational level we will bring in a new chairman of the board and add three new board members who believe in our mission and have the capacity to fund raise. A strategic planning session will be commenced to review the current strategic plan to determine if it still reflects current thinking on the future of B2L. The areas of increased focus will be on increasing sponsorship and student scholarship funding. At the school level B2L will work with Anh Linh School to increase the enrollment of needy children, increase the number of sponsored children, strengthen the curriculum, introduce some level of vocational training, and increase the number of scholarship students that go on to state schools which they cannot do without help.
