Accomplishments
The Southeast Minnesota Chapter of the American Red Cross serves the residents of Dodge, Fillmore, Olmsted, Steele, and Wabasha Counties. Through the following services, we touch the lives of nearly 30,000 people each year.
Disaster Services - The Red Cross responds to every disaster that affects our community be it a single family fire or a natural disaster of a larger scale. The Red Cross provides food, clothing and shelter to those affected as well as much needed Health and Mental Health Services. We strive to provide each person affected the tools necessary to take that first step towards recovery.
Military Services - The Red Cross facilitates emergency communications between members of the military and their family at home. When there is an emergency at home, and there may be no other way for families to communicate, Red Cross Military Services can reach the service member wherever they are in the world.
Health and Safety - Instructors at the Red Cross teach members of our community life-saving skills in CPR, First Aid, lifeguarding, and swimming lessons. Courses are also available to help kids stay safe when home alone.
Blood Services - The Red Cross is responsible for collecting nearly 50% of the nation's blood supply. Bloodmobiles are held in multiple locations throughout the year to make it easy for blood donors to give.
International Services - Red Cross caseworkers are able to locate and reconnect family members that have been separated due to international conflicts or disasters.
Current Goals
Our goals are driven by our mission, which is to provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. In order to fulfill that mission, we continue to work on improving our disaster readiness and response capability, increasing the percentage of population receiving life-saving training, collecting enough blood to maintain a safe and adequate blood supply, and responding to the needs of military personnel and their families. As we work to meet these goals, this year each chapter will also be measured on its ability to meet its revenue targets, to operate within its approved expense budget, to leverage regional opportunities for collaboration, and to increase active, visible engagement of community groups, businesses and media serving diverse communities, particularly communities of color, in frontline service delivery in our communities.
