Accomplishments
In fiscal year 2011, the American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest directly impacted 1.5 million
people through our programs and services. This number does not reflect our advocacy outreach which
allows us to affect the lives of millions more through public policy. We share this number with you to
help explain the true effect our organization has in the region and the importance of your support as
we promote clean air and lung health together.
During the summer, over 650 children learned about their lung disease at Asthma Camps across the
region and 8,000 parents, school faculty members and medical professionals participated in
asthma educational seminars to help support children like our campers.
We helped 872,000 people discover new clean fuel technologies through multiple programs,
seminars, “Lunch and Learns”, and more and brought awareness through proactive media outreach
to amass more than 20 million impressions. We’re proud of our accomplishments but know that
we can do even more to improve lung health in our region and make a measureable impact through
research, education and advocacy.
